EPE foam baby mats are getting more and more popular in both China and abroad

EPE foam baby mats, also named as “floor mats” “outdoor camping mats” “moisture-proof mats” “picnic mats” “beach mats”, etc, it was first popular in Japan and South Korea, mainly used for babies to crawl and play.  Because the mats have good elasticity, and are water-proof, besides, the surface of the mat is PE film printed with cartoons, flowers and trees, so they are loved by babies and their parents. This is also the origin of the name “baby crawling mats”. 

In China, the early EPE foam baby mats are used in Northeast China. In that area, it is very cold in winter, so each house has a “kang” (where people can burn wood inside to keep the house warm). On the “kang”, they use 2m-long or even 3m-long EPE mat for the thermal insulation. The mat thickness is between 10-20mm. In this way, the EPE mat rapidly opened up the market in Northeast China. 

The main reason why EPE foam baby mat is popular in the market of Southeast Asian countries is that whenever guests come, they normally sit cross-legged on the floor. 

Dishes and tablewares are put on the ground. So sitting on the EPE mat is much more comfortable than sitting on the ground. Therefore, as soon as the EPE mat was launched in the market, they were immediately loved by the people there. It also caused the demand for such mats to be in short supply during some time. 

Before COVID-19, a lot of dealers bought such EPE mats from China, however, COVID-19 made the shipping cost raise a lot, so many mat sellers change to make the mats locally.
