Due to the low output of Model 75 EPE extruder, it is almost not used in China for using it to make EPE sheet.
The sheet which this model of machine can make is only 0.3-3mm thickness and width 500mm to 1500mm.
But it doesn’t mean that you can make sheet with 3mm thickness and 1500mm width, if you make 1500mm-wide sheets, you can get only 0.3mm thickness.
But if you want 3mm-thick sheets, the width can only be 500mm. Because the extruding output is fixed, the wider the sheet is, the thinner the thickness is.
However, this Model 75 EPE extruder is widely used to make EPE fruit net, EPE foam pad, and EPE foam pipes/rods/profiles. You can make almost all sizes of fruit nets out of this model, for making EPE rod, its diameter range is about 6-30mm.
The extruding part of the machine for making sheet, fruit net, and pipes are all the same. But the die head, mould and other auxiliary parts of making them are different.
That is also to say, if you change die head, mould, and auxiliary parts, you can use one machine to make different types of products——EPE sheet, EPE pipe/rod/profile, EPE fruit net, EPE foam pad, etc.
The Model 105 EPE Extruding Line is a representative type in Chinese market. 105 means the screw diameter is 105mm, the LD ratio of the screw is 55:1, so the length of the 105 screw is 105x55=5775mm.
The model 105 output is <=120kg/h. The sheet thickness range made by this model is 0.3-5mm. (Note: It doesn’t mean the machine can make 5mm thickness at any width, as the machine output is fixed, the wider the sheet is, the thinner its thickness is. For making 5mm thickness, the maximum width is 1100mm.)
This Model 105 EPE Extruding Line is mostly used to make ordinary EPE sheet. Its application is for standard packing purpose such as furniture, windows & doors, ceramic, glass, instruments, equipments, etc.
We can change die head and auxiliary parts to make other EPE foam products such as pipes, rods, U-shape profiles, E-shape profiles, L-shape profiles etc to achieve multi-purpose.
The sheet thickness range made by Model 120 EPE foam sheet making machine is 0.5-7mm. (for width 900-4000mm). As the machine output is fixed, (for model 105, it is about 180kg/h), the wider the sheet is, the thinner the thickness is.
Total installed power of Model 120 is 115kW, the real electricity consumption is about 55kW. (Note: For the EPE extruding line, not all the electrical parts work together. During normal process, the motor is adjusted by inverter, it is not working full loaded. And the water cooling part doesn’t need heating, that is why the real electricity consumption is just half of the total installed power).
The screw length of Model 120 EPE foam sheet making machine is 6600mm. Adding the die head, gearbox, and motor, etc, the main extruder length is about 8m. The total production line (including the auxiliary parts such as sizing, slitting, flattening, hauling, winding), the workshop length had better be about 25m length.
In Chinese market, this model is a small model, it is mainly to make EPE sheet roll, foam pipe, rod, profile, etc.
The EPE sheets are used as wooden floor moisture-proof layer, floor heating reflective layer, roof heat-insulating layer, etc. Profiles can be used for the protection for doors, windows and furniture, etc. In some places where the competition is not fierce, manufacturers bond the sheets made by this model to get more thickness.
We don’t suggest that manufacturers make it in this way because to make 6-7mm thickness sheets, big model machine can make better quality and lower density. Using model 120 to make thin sheets then bond them will have more loss so the profit is lower.
Model 135 is medium-size EPE sheet extruding line. It can make EPE sheet with thickness 1-9mm (corresponding to width 1m-4m, the wider, the thinner).
Although it can make both thin sheets and thick sheets, it doesn’t mean that the sheets of all the thicknesses have the same high quality. For example, if you make 1m wide sheets with EPE sheet extruding line, you can make thickness from 1-9mm.
However, the sheets with the best quality and lowest density is of thickness about 3-5mm. 1mm and 9mm are the limit thickness the machine can make, so the sheet quality is not perfect.
So, when you choose the machine model, you can’t expect that it can make all the thicknesses you want, you have to decide what thicknesses are the best sold in the local market, then choose the machine according to that. Otherwise, if you have competitors, you will never win them.
The screw length of Model 135 EPE sheet extruding line is 7425mm. Adding die head, gearbox, the length of the main extruder is about 9m. The workshop needed for 135 line is 30m long, 4-5 meter wide, 3.5m high. Output of model 135 extruder is about 220kg/h. The whole line needs 3 workers per shift. If the workers are experienced, then 2 workers are enough.
Total installed power of model 135 extruder is 150kW. Actual electricity consumption is 75kWh. The thickness range made by this model is not the hot sold so this model is not so popular in China.
Manufacturers usually make sheets with thickness 2-5mm with 135 model of machine and EPE sheet made by this model is normally used for packing express parcels.
Model 150 means the screw diameter is 150mm. As the L/D ratio is 55:1, the screw length is 150x55=8250mm. Adding the die head, motor, gearbox, the main extruder length is about 10m. With its auxiliary parts, it needs a workshop of 32m long. Its output is about 300kg/h, and it can make EPE sheet with thickness of 2mm-12mm. (corresponding to the width 1m-4m). Its total installed power is 220kW and real electricity consumption is 120kWh.
Model 150 EPE foam sheet extrusion line is normally used to make EPE sheets with thickness of 5-6mm (for 1m width). You can also use a bonding machine to get bigger thickness. At present, the customers who are using our machine can make density 15.8kg/m3, this is relative low density in the EPE market. It is acceptable for EPE deep-manufacturing manufacturers, and its hardness and its anti-collision performance is not bad.
Generally speaking, this model is suitable for the starters, if your budget is not sufficient, and you don’t have too many orders at the beginning, then you can start with this line.
In fact, at the beginning of the EPE field, 150mm EPE foam sheet extrusion line is used a lot for making mats, green house insulation cover, etc. Later, more and more manufacturers started using bigger models such as 180 model, 200 model 220 model 250 model or even 300 model. Compared to these big models, 150mm EPE foam sheet extrusion line doesn’t have advantages, so it gradually withdraws from this part of application.

Model 180 EPE foam extrusion line takes an area of 38mx6mx3.5m. It can make 3mm-18mm thick sheets. If you make 2m-wide sheets, you can get 2mm thickness, too. Its output is about 300-500kg/h. (capacity differs according to different sheet width and thickness). Generally speaking, if you make thin and narrow sheets, its output must be lower than if you make thick and wide sheets.
Model 180 was the main model for making baby crawling mats in Chinese market during earlier years. Most mat sizes are 2mx1.8m, and thickness are mainly 5mm, 10mm, 15mm, 20mm. Model 180 performs well for making 2m-wide, 5m-thick sheets, the density is low, and surface quality is good.
In recent years, with the development of southeastern-Asian market and African market, many Chinese investors choose to make such mats in Southeastern-Asian countries and African countries. They bought Model 180 EPE foam extrusion line and corresponding extrusion lamination machine, cutting machine, bonding machine, recycling machine for making baby crawling mats in other countries.
Later, with the increasing demands in China, there is more fierce competition. To save production cost and increase profit margin, model 180 is taken place by model 200 or 220. At present, for making baby crawling mats in China, 200 is the main model. However, if the competition is not so fierce, model 180 EPE foam extrusion line can still work well.
The screw diameter of model 200 EPE extruder is 200mm, its length is 11000mm. Adding hydraulic screen changer, die head, gearbox, motor, its length is 13m. The workshop needed for the whole 200 line is 45mx6mx3.5m. If we send machines abroad with a container, we need a 45HQ, even this, we still need to dismantle the die head otherwise it can’t be put into the container.
Model 200 EPE extruder is now one of the most popular models in Chinese market for making thick sheets. In recent years, manufacturers who are experienced started to choose bigger model such as 220 and 250. Because for thick sheets, bigger model can make lighter density for the same quality products.
Model 200 EPE extruder can easily make 13 tons of materials during 24 hours. If you don’t have a strict requirement of the product surface quality, you can make even 15 tons. For example, in the north of China, people make greenhouse quilt for the insulation of vegetables. They use model 200 to make 3m wide, 5-7mm thick epe sheets, the insulation quilt doesn’t need to look so good, so they make 15 tons of products every 24 hours.
If the density is 16kg/m3, 13 tons of material is 812.5m3, in 24 hours, you can make more than 800m3 of products, so if you use this model, you need a big warehouse for storage.
Model 200 EPE extruder is now mainly used to make thick EPE sheets, baby crawling mats, or greenhouse quilt for insulation purpose. But now many manufacturers choose bigger model such as 220 or 250 or even 300 to make them.
Model 200 EPE extruder can easily make density of 15kg/m3 for making 5mm, 6mm, 7mm, 8mm thickness. Some experienced technician can even make 13kg/m3 density with this model.
Screw diameter of model 220 EPE foam extrusion machine is 220mm, L/D ratio is 55:1, so its screw length is 21200mm. Adding hydraulic screen changer, die head, gearbox and motor, total length of the extruder is about 14m. The whole extruding line needs a workshop of 45x6mx3.5m.
In China, 220 model is mainly used to make thick EPE sheets, baby crawling mats and greenhouse quilts. As EPE sheet is light comparing to the same thickness of other materials, and it has a good water-proof function, people use it as the core of greenhouse quilts. And it can be rolled easily, so it is widely used.
Production output of model 220 EPE foam extrusion machine is big, it can make about 15 tons per 24 hours. Its total installed power is 450kW, real electricity consumption is about 220kWh, manufacturers need a 250KW transformer.
In recent years, the competition in the EPE market is more and more fierce. The earliest manufacturers engaged in the production of EPE sheets mostly have developed to medium-sized or large-sized manufacturers now. They have more financial resources and sales channels. And their workshops and warehouses are also large enough. Therefore, the earliest manufacturers engaged in the production of pearl cotton sheets are now basically medium-sized and large-scale pearl cotton sheet manufacturers.
Such EPE manufacturers have financial resources, resources, and sales channels. The workshop and warehouse are also large enough. The 300-type EPE extruder machine first became popular and put into use in the market from Weifang City, Shandong Province, China. This city is famous for greenhouse vegetables.
There are many big greenhouses in this city. As this city is in the northern part of China, in winter, it is very cold. So the vegetable greenhouses need to be covered with thick quilts in the cold winter.
This kind of greenhouse quilt is made of EPE sheet woven clothes and felt. EPE sheet is in the middle layer, it is generally 3 meters wide and thicknesses are mostly 5mm, 8mm and 10mm. For such specification of EPE sheet, 300-type epe sheet manufacturing machine is necessary.
At present, 300-type epe sheet manufacturing machine is the biggest in China. It can make the thickest sheets and its output is the biggest. As the machine is too long, if we send such line abroad, we have to dismantle the screw and then re-assemble it when it reaches customers’ factories.
As the greenhouse quantity is huge in Weifang City, the demand of greenhouse quilt made of EPE sheet is also huge. So, there are MANY EPE sheet manufacturers here. Each year, from the beginning of August to the end of the year, it is the peak season for greenhouse quilt. Almost none of the epe extruder machines stops after it starts.
