There is a lot of EPE waste in the EPE product manufacturers’ workshop such as the extruded waste made when you start running the machine, the cutting waste, etc. You can use EPE foam recycling machine to recycle it.
The recycling machine first crush the waste, then heat and extrude it, after cooling by water, it is cut into granules. We can use 60 mesh or 80 mesh filtering screen to filter the dirts so that the recycled granules can be clean enough for us to re-use.
So, can we use the recycled material to our production? How many percents of recycled materials can we use?
The answers are as the following:
If you make EPE sheet with thickness of more than 3mm, you can use 100% of recycled material. (The condition is, the recycled material has to be clean, and it is recycled by the scraps of your products. This kind of recycled material is Grade A recycled materials.
If you recycle the waste collecting from the market, then its quality is not guaranteed. )
If you make EPE sheets with thickness of more than 2mm, you can mix 30%-50% of recycled materials. The amount is according to your real condition.
If you make EPE sheets with thickness of less than 2mm, we don’t suggest that you use recycled materials. If you use that, the EPE sheets will crack at the place of die head.
If you make EPE sheets with thickness of less than 1mm, then you have to use 100% new material. No recycled material can be mixed.
Then, why can't recycled materials be used for making EPE sheets with thickness of less than 1mm?
One reason is that the filter screen on the die head for making thin sheets is 150 mesh(sometimes 200 mesh or 250 mesh) while the filter screen used for recycling machine is 80mesh, so it will cause the die head is often blocked. Frequent changing of the filtering screen make us not be able to use the machine normally.
Another reason is that some small parts of the impurities in the recycled materials will rush out of the filter screen and stuck in the mould, it will cause crack of the sheet.
When manufacturing EPE tubes, rods or profiles of L-shape or U-shape, the filter screen we use on the die head is normally 40-60 mesh, so if you manufacture such products, you can use recycled materials.
