The production of EPE foam camping mats needs EPE foam sheet extruding line, extrusion laminating machine, cutting machine, sewing machine, EPE recycling machine, etc. To carry the mats more easily, the thickness of the mats can’t be too thick, normally 3-5mm thickness is enough. But the performance of moisture-proof and thermal insulation has to be good.

This is a question which is not easy to answer. First of all, whether you can make money depends on whether you can sell the product. It depends on the demand for EPE product in South American countries and which industries will use this product.
Epe foam mattress is favored by customers in developing countries because of its simple production process, low production cost and good thermal insulation and waterproof effect.
The production of epe foam mattress requires a large extruder to produce EPE sheet in roll because the thickness of mattress is normally more than 10mm thick while only big extruders can make this thickness at the low cost. If customers need mats with thickness of more than 10mm, then you need a bonding machine which can bond two layers of EPE sheets together to get more thickness. After bonding, we have to use a cutting machine to cut the sheets into the suitable size. The scraps and waste after cutting can be recycled by recycling machine so that it can be re-used. In this way, we can save material and lower the production cost.
To produce EPE foaming mattresses, we need big-type of EPE sheet extruding line (such as model 180, 200, 220 or 250), EPE bonding machine, EPE cutting machine and EPE recycling machine.
Big type of EPE extruding line can make low-density EPE sheets which has small corrugation. Some of our customers who have good experience can make flat EPE sheets with low density. For the same specification of sheets, if you use small-type of extruders, the density will be higher so the production cost is higher.
Because EPE foam sheet has very good performances of good thermal insulation, moisture-proof, water proof and anti-collision, besides, it is low cost, people in many developing countries use it to make mattress.
To make EPE foam mattress, we need at least EPE sheet extruder, EPE bonding machine, EPE cutting machine and EPE recycling machine.
The production of EPE sheet requires large EPE extruding line, both vertical EPE bonding machine and horizontal bonding machine, EPE cutting machine and EPE recycling machine.
The newly produced EPE sheet can’t be bonded immediately because there is butane gas inside. If you bond them immediately after they are made, then there will be air bubbles on the finished product. So, you have to leave it for about 15 days for the volatilization of the butane gas. (The higher the temperature is, the shorter the volatilization time is, and vice versa). Only after the butane gas has completely volatilized then we can do the bonding work.
EPE has a non-crosslinked closed-cell structure, also known as polyethylene foam cotton, which is a new type of environmentally friendly packaging material. It is composed of countless independent air bubbles which is expanded from LDPE (low-density polyethylene). It overcomes the shortcomings of ordinary styrofoam that are fragile, deformed, and poor in recovery. It has many advantages such as water and moisture resistance, shock resistance, sound insulation, heat preservation, good plasticity, strong toughness, recycling, environmental protection, strong impact resistance, etc. It is an ideal substitute for traditional packaging materials.
In the production process of EPE packaging materials, physical foaming is used instead of chemical foaming. At present, the most common way of foaming is to use butane gas as foaming agent. If there is no butane gas, LPG, methane or propane can also be used as substitutes for butane . At the same time, many EPE product manufacturers in China are trying to replace butane gas with carbon dioxide as foaming agent.
